I'm super excited to let you know that Barley & Sage is now a publisher on Yummly!! All you have to do is press the YUM button at the top of the page to get started!
If you're already on Yummly, woo hoo!! If not, let me tell you about it! Yummly is basically a search engine that's specifically for recipes (kind of like Pinterest for food). You can break down your search in every way that you've ever dreamed of! You can search simply according to diet or type of cuisine. Or you can do specific searches according to allergies, cooking time, or budget! It's the ultimate recipe directory!
Okay, so what next?
Head over to Yummly, create an account and fill in all your preferences. Then you’re ready to go and get yumming! Search through their database to find recipes you’ll love that meet your exact preferences. You can also get the Yummly App for your different devices so you can access it whenever you want!
You might also find that some food blogs have a Yum button on their site (like mine at the top of the page). This enables you to save a recipe straight from a blog onto your Yummly profile. It's super easy!
Should I use Yummly as a Blogger?
Yes!! Yummly is a great platform for both driving new traffic and creating backlinks to your posts (which is super important for SEO)!
If you’re a food blogger you can apply to become a publisher with Yummly. This means you will get featured on their site, which in turn will help boost traffic to your blog.
You can find my publisher page here: https://www.yummly.com/page/barleyandsage
To become a publisher you need to complete these three simple steps:
- Add a yum button to your website. You can find helpful instructions how to do this here. Or there are social sharing plugins which will include a Yummly Button. I use the Grow Premium Plugin.
- Let your readers know that you are on Yummly by publishing a blog post (a bit like this one).
- Once you’ve completed those two steps you can fill out this form.
That's it!
After you’ve made your account, go back to your blog and start hitting the yum button on your recipe posts. It will take some time for your recipe to processed by Yummly. And your picture might not even be visible straight away, which is fine.
It will take a few hours to up to 2 weeks from this point for your publisher page to be created. You will know your publisher page has been created when you click on your saved recipes at Yummly and it takes you to your Publisher page rather than the website directly. If you have not been approved as a publisher, your recipe will read “Read more by visiting {your blog name}”. However, if it has been a few days (read 14+days) and your publisher page has still not been created, simply email [email protected] for assistance. It is really that simple.
So, like I said, if you happen to see a recipe here that you love, like my personal favorite brown butter cookie dough cupcakes, then YUM it to save it to your Yummly recipe box!
If you have any questions about yummly or how to make it work for your blog, comment below and I’ll get back to you as soon as possible! In the meantime, make sure you connect with me on Yummly!
