Ingredient Notes
You just need 8 simple ingredients to make these caramelized mushroom and brie crostini!
Mushrooms - My favorite mushrooms are cremini (baby bella) but any type of mushrooms would work for these crostini!
Onion - You can also use shallots if you prefer.
Brie - Mushrooms and brie are a great combo, but these crostini would also be delicious with gruyere or goat cheese!
Marsala Wine - I just love the flavor of marsala with the mushrooms! However, you can easily substitute madiera, sherry, or any other white wine! You can also omit the wine and just use a little bit of beef stock to deglaze the pan instead.
The complete list of ingredients and amounts is located in the recipe card below.
How to Make Mushroom Crostini
Melt the butter in a small pan over medium heat.
Thinly slice the onion, mushrooms, and garlic. Add to the pan and sauté gently for 10-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the mushrooms and onions begin to caramelize.
Add in the marsala wine to deglaze the pan, making sure to scrape up any brown bits off the bottom of the pan. Cook for another 2-3 minutes.
Remove from the heat and set aside. Then season with salt and pepper.
Place the slices of bread on a baking sheet and top with a slice of brie.
Then place in the oven under the broiler for about 5 minutes, or until just starting to toast and the cheese softens. Remove from oven.
Top each slice of bread and cheese with a small spoonful of the caramelized mushrooms and onions.
Sprinkle the mushroom crostini with fresh thyme and enjoy!
